Privacy Policy
Homewing turns your real schoolwork into a game. To do that it has to read your assignments. This page explains what it keeps and why, and how you can delete all of it.
What Homewing collects
- Your account. Your email address and a password. The password is stored only as a one-way hash.
- Your profile. The name, school, avatar, dorm and settings you choose.
- Your class connections. Learning Suite calendar links and Canvas access tokens you paste in. These are encrypted and never shown again. Homewing never asks for your school password.
- Your schoolwork. Courses, assignments, due dates, announcements and calendar events, copied from those connections. You can also add assignments yourself.
- Your progress. XP, streaks, quests, chests, coins, focus sessions, study decks, arcade scores and similar game records.
- Friends and leagues. Friend codes, your friends list and nudges. Leagues show your first name and last initial. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Purchases. If you buy Homewing Plus or coins in the iPhone app, Apple handles the payment. We receive Apple's signed receipt (product, date, transaction id) so we can add what you bought and handle refunds. We never see your card or payment details.
- Notifications. The push-notification token for your device or browser, if you allow notifications.
- Things you send us. Feedback you write, and error reports sent when something breaks, which are used only to fix bugs.
What Homewing does not do
- No ads, and no advertising or analytics trackers.
- It never sells or rents your data, or shares it for anyone else's marketing.
- It never tracks you across other apps or websites.
- It never submits work or changes anything in your school's systems for you. Learning Suite and Canvas stay the official record. The one exception is Canvas: if you check something off in Homewing, Canvas may mark it done in your own planner.
Who else touches your data
Homewing runs on Fly.io, which hosts the server and database. Email you ask for, such as a password reset or setup steps, goes through an email delivery provider. Push notifications go through Apple, Google or your browser's push service. In-app purchases are processed by Apple. Each of these handles data only to provide that service.
How long it's kept
Your data stays while your account exists. When you delete your account, everything tied to it is erased right away. Copies in our nightly backups roll off within 14 days.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Me → Settings → Delete account and data. You'll confirm with your password, and that's it. Removing a class connection in Settings deletes its saved link or token immediately. You can also email us and we'll delete your account for you.
Children
Homewing is made for college students and isn't meant for children under 13. If you think a child has made an account, email us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
